From picking the right team to keeping the quarterback in check, there are a few points to keep in mind if you want to be a pro at Madden 24. I’ve been a fan of the Madden series since Madden NFL 19 came out and picked up Madden-24 on my PC right when it came out. I’ve had a couple of newbies ask me for tips when playing the game, so I thought of discussing them in this article.
Pick the Right Team
First up, I would recommend that you be mindful of the team you choose – they each come with their own stats, so how well you will play will ultimately depend on who you choose. The answer to this can differ depending on your strategy, but I would always say that the KC Chiefs are the best. The KC Chiefs have the best team offense, having an overall rating of 91.
The Kansas City Chiefs also have two players in the 99-score club – Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahones. So, it’s not a surprise that even when you look at the NFL odds, they are rated the best.
But if you are looking for another team to play, especially if you are someone who thinks defense is the best strategy, you should go for the 49ers.
Make Use of the Practice Area
Like in other sports titles, you get access to a practice area in Madden 24. This goes without saying, but if you want to hone in your skills, you need to spend time in the practice mode – you get access to a bunch of moves and controls, which you can use to try out plays to figure out which you like the most.
On a similar note, I would recommend that you play in the Easy Level first. This would help you understand the game’s mechanics in competitive settings.
Keep Plays Simple
You should always use simple plays when you’re first getting used to the game – yes, Madden 24 offers a wide range of offensive and defensive plays which can be tempting to try out. But as a newbie, keeping it simple and not experimenting can help you secure that win.
If you’re wondering what plays might be the most effective, crossing and corner routes are good – they both give the receivers enough space to keep the ball moving up the pitch without much risk.
Keep the Quarterback in check
Quarterbacks are the most important position in the game – they are considered the leader of the offense and are responsible for calling the play in huddles. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that you need to keep your quarterback in check if you want to win.
More specifically, you need to be good at timing, and your accuracy should be high. You also need to be mindful of all the different defenses and how you can tackle them.
Here’s a pro tip:
I’d recommend that you use quarterbacks that are known to move well. Off the top of my head, some of the best are Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes.
Use Fast Players
While on the topic of speed, I would say that you should always go for the fastest stars – no matter if they are quarterbacks or not. You’ll be able to score touchdowns more easily, especially when you use the sprint button at the right time.
Watch the Weather Forecast
I understand how this might seem like an afterthought, but you also need to keep in mind the weather forecast. For the best offense, you need to check the in-game forecast for sunny and clear skies. When on quick-play mode, there are 7 different weather forecasts to choose from, and you can even randomize it if you want.
I’ve noticed that although offensives are impacted by the weather, this isn’t much the case for defensives. But of course, there is the chance that cornerbacks and safeties can slip in the secondary in the rain or snow.
Watch the Clock
It’s vital that you watch the clock if you want to win rounds. With shorter quarters than in real life, you’ll be able to control the clock at the end of both halves to give your opponents less time with the ball. This will especially be important during the second half of matches: you should try and use as much of the clock as possible. I’d suggest that you wait until the final seconds before snapping the ball.
Final Thoughts
As discussed, there are several points to keep in mind when playing Madden 24- the game is by far one of the best sports titles around, and definitely one of my favorites. None of the tips I discussed are too difficult, so with a bit of practice, you can easily get around the game. So, hopefully, you found everything that was discussed useful!
