Summary
-
FromSoftware fans have been sharing the enemies they find the “ugliest” across all the developer’s soulslikes.
-
Maneater Boars from Bloodborne gets the first shout-out, while enemies such the Monstrosity of Sin and the Wretch are also mentioned.
-
Jar Innards from Shadow of the Erdtree, the big spider from Bloodborne, and the Plague Babies from Demons’ Souls also make an appearance, even though we really, really wish they didn’t.
FromSoftware games are both incredibly beautiful, and downright nasty. For every sweeping vista or majestic cathedral, there’s usually one or two little gremlins hiding in them, thought up by twisted minds and given digital flesh. With seven soulslikes under its belt (yes we’re including Sekiro), the sheer variety of these little monstrosities is pretty amazing.
There can only be one enemy that is the ugliest of them all, and that’s what FromSoftware fans tried to figure out in a Reddit thread posted by a user called Darkthrone0 earlier today. In this post, they asked other fellow FromSoftware fans to name the “ugliest” enemy that FromSoftware has ever come up with, and it turns out they’ve made quite a few contenders.
FromSoftware Fans Are Sharing The “Ugliest” Enemies Across Every Soulslike
DarkThrone0 kicks things off nicely with their pick, which is the Maneater Boars from Bloodborne, especially the ones in the Nightmare of Mensis that have all those eyeballs sticking out of their heads. Not only are they massive, but gross too, so it’s a strong start, but another user called Yerzeda2024 chooses Dark Souls 3 as their game of choice, and an enemy they call the “hand babies”.
What Yerzeda2024 is likely referring to is the Monstrosity of Sin (name checks out), which can be found in the Profaned Capital. These things are essentially giant babies that crawl on all fours, but instead of a head, they have a lump of flesh resembling a head that includes way too many fingers. There’s also some sort of substance coming out of the center, adding to the grossness quite nicely.

Another user called MaximumSurge23 goes for a more recent title, giving a shout-out to the fleshy jar creatures that you can find in Shadow of the Erdtree, aptly called Jar Innards. Sure, they might look like meatballs, but they are very gross.
FromSoftware has created plenty of disgusting creatures over the years, so we’d be here all day if we named them all, but other picks include the hands from Elden Ring, the distressingly massive spider from Bloodborne, Wretches from Dark Souls 3, and one that was mentioned a few days ago – the Labyrinth Sage from Bloodborne. We also think the Plague Babies from Demons’ Souls deserve a nod. You are truly messed up FromSoftware, and we love you for it.
