Summary
-
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 may be replacing the infamous farting unicorn finishing move that upset players last month.
-
The unicorn bundle‘s preview for the finishing move shows a different one entirely, as the unicorn kicks an enemy into a player’s arms, who is then thrown onto the unicorn’s horn.
-
The farting finisher (sigh) is still being used in-game right now, though this may be a sign that Treyarch is preparing to replace it with something less controversial.
Call of Duty fans have been getting increasingly frustrated by how silly crossovers have been getting in recent months, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 continuing that trend. First, it was the addition of a skin that let you run around as a full-blown man shark that rankled some people, quickly followed up by one of the most ridiculous finishing moves Call of Duty has ever seen – a farting unicorn.
Unfortunately, the unicorn was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and many Call of Duty fans took to social media to complain about the addition, calling it “shameless capitalism” and mocking developer Treyarch for its lack of artistic integrity. You’d struggle to find many among the Call of Duty fanbase that actually loved the finishing move, and it now seems like Treyarch may have bowed down to the pressure.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 May Be Replacing The Unicorn Finishing Move
Shared by Call of Duty Twitter account CharlieIntel earlier today, it appears as though the preview for the Unicorn bundle’s finishing move has been changed. Instead of the player lifting the unicorn’s tail and blowing away a player with a blast of rainbow-colored fart vapors, the preview now plays a move that sees the unicorn kick an enemy into a player’s arm, before they’re thrown down onto the horn of the unicorn for the kill.

Necroclaus is just one example of Activision Blizzard apparently using the tech to cut corners.
At the time of writing, it still seems as though the finishing move for the Unicorn bundle is the farting one, as it’s still being used in Black Ops 6 games, but the preview is completely different. We don’t know what this means right now, but it seems fairly likely that this is Treyarch preparing to replace the finishing move with something a little less ridiculous. A unicorn might still be used, but at least bodily gases aren’t.
Of course, this makes things fairly tricky for those that have already purchased the bundle, as they’re having their product altered after the fact. If it is replaced, chances are that Activision will offer refunds to those that want them, as it would be pretty difficult to justify not giving them out. In any case, we’ve yet to see if this is a sign it’s getting replaced, but if it is, then that’s one point on the board for all the Call of Duty fans out there worried about the direction of the game.
