The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is just days away from release – but if you’re like us, knowing the date isn’t enough. When is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom released? Is preloading possible? Well, luckily we know the answer, because Nintendo has confirmed to GameSpot that the game will launch on May 11th at 9PM PT, which is 12PM ET on May 12th.
This fits with a typical Nintendo product launch. A listing on Nintendo’s website states that digital software, also sold physically for the Switch, will “generally” be available starting at 9:00 p.m. PT the night before the official release date.
Players who pre-ordered the game digitally can pre-install it now. Tears of Kingdoms is a massive 16GB game, so being able to preload is a good thing.
Kingdom Tears has fallen into the hands of some, so watch out for spoilers for the next week or so. Also, be aware that ex-Nintendo boss Reggie Fils-Aime will come after you if you have an early copy.
Expectations were high for Tears of the Kingdom in terms of quality and commercial success. After all, Breath of the Wild was critically acclaimed and sold more than 29 million copies, posing a big challenge for a sequel.
